Hotel Club

The Canary Island of Gran Canaria's hotels are a traditional mixture of small family run establishments and modern hotels, with most in the 3 and 4 star category.

But now there is one hotel in Gran Canaria that has been rated the third best in the world by people who have stayed there - and according to them it's the best in Europe.

Independent hotel reviews are a great way for people to see what others think, and when there are a good number a feel of what a hotel is really like can be gauged before making any booking.

And it can help hotels who fall below the standards expected of today's holidaymaker if they read the reviews to see what their guests think, to rectify matters and improve future comments and rankings to ensure they are as well thought of as their competitors.

Cewek Hotel Online

If you've booked a vacation recently, you have probably come across online websites that warn about bed bugs in hotels. Bed bugs have been a huge problem in hotels in Manhattan, with even the most luxurious hotels harboring these pests between the sheets. This can be very worrisome to any traveler: knowing that the hotel you are planning on visiting has recently had a bed bug infestation would make most travelers itch all over and look for a new place to bed down. Internet sites like the Bed Bug Registry as well as hotel review websites have been buzzing with information from consumers on hotels that have contracted these pesky nighttime insects, reporting where these pests were seen and how they were brought home on unsuspecting guests. If you are planning a trip to New York City and are worried about these blood sucking parasites, we have a few suggestions for you before you book your hotel stay, as well as a few tips on what signs to look for to identify a possible infestation in your next hotel room.

Do your research. To help minimize the chance that the hotel you choose will have bed bugs, be an informed consumer. Visit hotel review websites and read reviews from other hotel guests about the hotels you have in mind. Check the Bed Bug Registry as well, to see if the hotels you are considering have had incidences of these pests in the past.

• Find a hotel that has an on-site pest inspector. With all the media coverage of bed bug infestations that have been popping up all over the country, some hotels have hired dedicated pest inspectors to join their staff full-time. This is someone whose sole job it is to check each room for bed bugs and to make sure that precautions are taken to keep rooms from becoming infested.

• Look for hotels that have pest control professionals that do periodic checks. Often a hotel will contract a pest control company to check their properties periodically throughout the year, using all their resources to thoroughly inspect for bed bugs and treat any infestations that may be found. They will also take precautions to ensure that bed bugs won't return, including mattress encasements in every room.

After doing your research and finding the right hotel, you still can't be one hundred percent certain that the hotel you choose is going to be free of these nighttime pests. To make sure that you come home from your vacation with only memories and not blood sucking parasites, you should know how to recognize a bed bug infestation. Before entering your hotel room, leave your luggage at the door with a bell hop or a family member and enter the room to look for signs for these pests. The signs that they are present include:

1. Brown blood specks on the mattress, box spring or bed linens
2. Shed bug skins and dried-up larvae, dead bugs and their eggs
3. Bed bugs huddled in the crevices of furniture, behind photos on the wall and around the edge of the room where carpeting meets the wall
4. Tiny little bugs that go running when the lights are turned on
5. In a severely infested room, some people can detect a sweet but musty smell

Hopefully you won't encounter these bugs in your hotel room after completing your inspection. If you do find that your hotel room is infected, alert the hotel staff immediately. A respectable hotel will either move you to a new room and/or offer you a discount on your stay. If you find that these pests were not obvious in your hotel room but that you've brought them home with you, you should contact a pest control professional in your area immediately. They can help you identify the extent of the infestation and exterminate the parasites that have followed you home.

Guide to Hotel Insurance

It is common sense that any hotel owner needs good insurance cover. With guests and staff coming and going daily, ensuring a whole range of problems are insured against is very important. From public liability claims to insuring against theft and fire, there is a large amount that needs to be included in standard hotel insurance. Before buying anything, as a hotel owner it is very important that you know all the facts. It is also crucial that you talk through all your requirements with a few different insurance brokers so you can be sure you are getting a good deal. When it comes to insurance there is a lot of competition out there so you should take advantage of this by discussing your individual needs with several companies before making a decision.

A lot of insurance policies are simply commercial policies that have a few hotel type clauses added in. These are not totally appropriate for hotels and can cause problems down the line. A hotel is quite an unusual business with a unique set of requirements and this needs to be reflected in the policy. To ensure you are getting a tailored plan for your hotel business the best advice is to seek out a specialist insurer of hotels. You will be glad you did when you come away with a thorough insurance policy able to cover you in the event of a host of problems and disasters.

Included in hotel insurance must be both public liability insurance and employee liability (if you have staff working for you that is). These will make sure that if a member of public, guest or staff member was to be involved in an accident, the hotel would be covered if a claim was to be made. These types of insurance are necessary by law and you could be in trouble or even have your license revoked if it was found either of these were missing. There are a large number of other types of insurance that could be beneficial to a hotel owner. For example you can be covered against business interruption, glass replacement, signage damage and employee theft too. Although these are not required by law, you could be grateful you had the additional coverage in the event that one of these scenarios occurred.

Contents cover is also extremely important as is insurance on the hotel building itself. Theft, damage caused by fire or any number of other disasters could mean you lose a large amount of stock or equipment needed to run the business. If you aren’t protected against this then replacing the items may just cost too much and you would be unable to replace what you lost. Although you may not think you have anything that is worth much, even just your linen, beds and kitchen equipment can add up to several thousand pounds worth.

If you have the misfortune to be affected by a serious disaster or theft that involves you having to make a claim, you are going to want a team of professional and experienced insurers helping you. That is why it is important you do your research before taking any insurance out. Although sometimes tempting to go for the cheapest, this can be a mistake and lead to a lot more expense in the future.

Whatever type of hotel you run, you are going to need good hotel insurance. From guest house insurance to commercial property insurance, make sure you work with a professional and reputable company. When it comes to insurance it is not worth taking any risks because your business and your livelihood could depend on it. Find out more about what type of insurance will be best for you by talking with a specialist hotel insurer today.

Cewek di Hotel

Anyone who loves Diane Von Furstenberg will be in heaven in these suites designed by the lady herself.
The lovely Claridge's PR Simon Neggers, who treated me to a tour, explained that Diane took a very hands-on approach to designing the rooms.
The rooms are full of the prints and patterns you'd associate with DVF fashion designs.
And there are lots of thoughtful touches such as Murano glass, handcrafted items from Bali, handcrafted rugs and photographs from DVF's own travels through Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Four have been completed so far including the stunning Piano Suite (third picture) and there will be 20 in total.
Just as excitement builds about the reopening of the Four Seasons London Park Lane (pictured), news has reached Hotel Girl of a third Four Seasons coming to the city.
Gerald Ronson's property firm Heron International has been granted planning permission to build a sibling skyscraper for its 46-storey Heron Tower in Liverpool Street.
The building, which will cost £500m to build, will include a hotel and residential complex managed by Four Seasons.
There's no idea of timescales yet, but this is one I'll be keeping tabs on.
In the meantime, I've been reading about Amaranto, the lovely new Italian restaurant to open in the Park Lane hotel, designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, who was also responsible for the Savoy refurbishment.
